Throughout its history, Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church has stood on the vanguard of putting faith into action. The sacrifices of our ancestors to build this church mere blocks from the White House have inspired us for many generations to continue their legacy of bold faith and the pursuit of justice. The world is not what God intends. Rising income inequality, uneven educational and employment opportunities, devastating criminal justice policies and unbridled white supremacy have undermined the ability of many to achieve more than prior generations. Given this reality and our legacy, Metropolitan is compelled to act — to stand in the gap advocating and agitating for justice and spiritual and socioeconomic liberation.
